Never get too close to colleagues like friends. Your skill or pay may stir jealousy people. Some staff or your project mate may be close to you. But even without their awareness they may develop jealous with you.

You may be admirable by others, that even rise jealous.

Jealousy Colleague’s Attack
Those who have jealous over you, try to disturb you or distract you in many ways.

They voluntarily pick-up problems and fight with you. All of a sudden they may shout at you. They create scenes as you are doing something wrong.

They try to even blackmail as ‘I am going to report to Boss’ based on a flimsy issue. Sometime they try to ‘steal’ your work.

They do all sorts of things to eliminate you or put you down. If female staff is the reason for the jealous then they may go at any extreme.

How to Handle Jealousy Colleague
Better way to handle the jealousy people is just ignore them. Don not retaliate them.

Let them get sick by their jealousy. Forgive them, pity at them. Laugh at their dirty things.

At the same time never never never afraid of them. Never give up the job because of silly politics. Just keep working and improve your skills.

Never waste your energy with jealousy people. At the same time keep some distance from them. They may try to threaten you, have courage and be steady and firm.

As long as you ignore them and emotionally balanced, they are the losers.

Happily, learn how to handle jealousy people and overcome them.

Office Politics

People working for few tens as salary to few millions as salary. All are doing office politics. I do not know why people are doing politics.

Here is my analysis or hypothesis about Office Politicians.

People have no big inner motive to do politics.

Some motives are, Get closer to the Boss, by separating others. They keep blaming others and act well as good they are. They show more interest in the organization more than the Boss.

Make the boss feel so important to them. They are so favorable to him. All are fake, just politics. Getting close to Boss is a simple ego game.

All are acting. They are the people who run away from back doors during emergency. Politicians are good escapers.

All are due to fears. They fear for job security. If they do not have fear of loosing job, they do not do office politics.

Office Politicians pollute the friendly working atmosphere.

Skilled people never do politics. They do not have time to think of politics. They speak through their work. They have confidence and knowledge and real experience to survive anywhere and everywhere at anytime and all time. They give earnings to the
company.

Office Politicians suck the company.

They make the really talented good human resource to move away from the company. They do all sort of cheap politics to disturb talented human resource by the fear that they may lose importance.

They keep disturbing the employees who really bring income to company. They have the urge to dominate employee who is economically beneficial to company. Many bosses are fools; they believe the hypnotism of cheap politicians.

Be aware of corporate politicians and their politics. This awareness will help to safeguard our self and also to counter play.

Job Hopping due to colleague’s resignation

How do you feel, if you colleague moving to better company with better offer?

You may like your current employer. You are so comfortable there. You are recognized by your current employer. You feel happy at your pay. Medium work load. Everything is going well. When your colleague gets offer from a better company with better pay your feelings towards the company is changing.

Your pay, work load, your comfort level, and everything are same, which you were satisfied with. When your colleague got offer you start comparing and loose your sleep. You start to hate the features from your current employer, which you liked them in the past.

For example in India, software industry is thriving well. Different level of companies is there from one employee companies to companies having employees in hundreds to thousands. The top ones are CMM level 5 companies like Wipro, TCS, CTS, Patni, Infosys, HCL, and etc. Employees keep changing the companies till they reach the CMM level 5 companies. But job hopping is happening in all sorts of companies, from small to CMM level 5. Employee working in small and medium size companies dream for CMM level 5 companies, but there are employees who quit/change from CMM level too. Job hopping is everywhere in all type of companies.

You work in a medium size company. You pay is little lower than CMM level/MNC companies. Any how you are satisfied. When your next sitting colleague get offer from a CMM level or MNC company, you get upset. You start to hate what you like in current company, you to want to move like your ex-colleague. You update your resume, start attending interviews. You prepare a mind state artificially as you cannot work in the current company any more. You start giving negative comments about current company. You may get offer from CMM level or MNC companies like your ex-colleague or you may get offer from same level of companies like your current company.

Since you have developed a ‘hate’ attitude towards your current company, you can not work any more. You forget that you started to hate your company after your colleague get offer from a big company; otherwise you will be keep loving your current company. You start to believe that the company is bad. You cannot work any more in the ‘worst work culture’, which was liked by you in the past.

Due to this artificial psychological pressure or an illusion, you accept offer from another company like your current company (just another company), because you cannot wait for CMM level or MNC company offer. You fail to notify the reason for your colleague’s move. They did not have prior plan or ‘interview efforts’ to enroll into big company. His/her move may be a chance or timing opportunity S/he did not move because the current employer is bad. They move because the future company is the best. They did not have negative feelings about the company like you. They made a ‘vertical upwards move’ in their career. You made a ‘Horizontal move’. Horizontal move is not necessary unless for valid reasons like relocation.

You move vertical or horizontal, but job hopping is done. But try to avoid horizontal move, if you are influenced by your colleague’s positive move. Be aware of your feelings about the company before and after colleague’s move. Regulate your feelings and keep them positive towards company. Be calm, for your turn. Don’t rush.

Remember there are employees who quit from your dream company for the same reasons like you try to quit from your current company. Certain situations are same everywhere.

Job Hopping True Reasons

Job hopping is keeping the HR active in corporate world. Of course they too jump. It is very rare to find an employee working in same company for more than one year. From office boys to top management executive everybody finds difficult to work in the same company. Why people switch between jobs.

People change the working place, their colleagues, their Bosses but they do not stop working.

Polite and decent reason for job hopping are ‘Career Growth, Salary hike, Need to relocate’. Of course few job changing done for the above three reasons.

But not all the job hopping are done for the above three reasons. Real reasons are hidden. No one is daring to convey the real reason for appearing in the interview or leaving the current office.

Somebody decide to change the office but without knowing which drive them to change the office.

There are interview tips to tell ‘Career Growth’ as the reason. But the resume can tell whether career growth is the real reason or something else. If too much company names in the resume, it makes clear that Career Growth is not the only reason for that candidate. It means none of the companies he worked has scope for his/her growth. This cannot be true.

I like to introspect, what may be the other reason for job hopping, which is really ‘ changing office’. Job hopping can be termed as Office Hopping. People change office but do not quit the job.

Relationship stress

Stress is the reason in many jobs hopping. Type of stress may be anything. Here I am focusing Relationship stress.

Relationship between two people may lead the relationship stress in long run. Every relationship has impact on the people related.

Relation between colleagues, relation between superior and subordinate, relation between staff and the customer who utilize the service of the staff, here customer is a person out side of the company, a type of relationship evolved between employee and his/her family due to office.

Relationship between spouses will change according to their respective relationship with their office. Some time it may lead to break the bondage from spouse.

If the relationship between superior and subordinate is getting fractioned and stressful, the immediate solution is job hopping.

If the relationship between colleagues becomes stressful then job change will be a solution after long patience.

Relationship between office and staff. It will get stressful if the employee forced work in inhuman ways like no appreciation or recognition for work. Expect to work in long hours continuously. ‘Work theft’ by other staff with the support of office. There are many inhuman resource management practices to spoil the relationship between office and staff.

People aware of their ‘self-value’ change the office quickly or never allow others to execute inhuman practices over them.

People, who are mesmerized by loyalty and other illusions, realize after long time or after being a scapegoat.

What we eat has a by product wastage. Every food after digestion leaves wastage in our body, which has to be removed. Excretion.

Like that every relationship has a negative residue. Initially the quantity of ‘relationship wastage’ is very less. But in due course of time, it becomes piled and beyond tolerance. We do not know how to remove this relationship wastage and maintain the relationship forever.

When somebody joins the company, the new person is good to the office, and the office seems to be good to the new employee. No employee will remark negatively at the time of reporting. This is true that new staff never have any type of relationship with the company. This is same to company.

Later on their feelings will change or reverse.

How to avoid such relationship friction.

There are many etiquette to maintain relationship. Whatever you maintain that will collapse. All maintainable will collapse once maintenance is stopped.

During the interview or reporting time everybody will act, nobody behaves in their original character or attitude. Once the act ends friction begins.

You are able to move with a person with out any fear and hesitation, and you are allowed to be as you are. You are accepted as you are. You can sit as per your comfort in front of the person, speak as per your comfort, you can behave as per your comfort.

If you are not highly conscious about your behavior in front of the person, your relationship will not have residue. When you do not ‘maintain’ your relationship, and let it be as it is then your relationship is frictionless.

In simple words if your heart beat is not changing often while accompanying the person then it is frictionless.

It is very difficult to find such frictionless relationship in office atmosphere. Even in home too. It is possible only among true friends, that is why friendship last for ever.

What ever relationship is maintained which will be broken after stop maintaining it. As long as you maintain it, you will have relationship residue.

Job hopping is not a way to stop dumping wastages by relationship stress. It is not a way to stop a person who is dumping relationship wastages over you.

If the relationship stress is the true reason behind office changing, you are wrong. Soon you will get in to the same situation in the new office. Other person will dump over you soon in your new office. There will be no end.

Everything is same everywhere. You have to stay in a company learn to adapt to all the situations, learn to fight for your rights without breaking relationship. Learn to keep yourself at comfort in all the situations as possible it can. Learn to ignore rather than fight some times. Learn all politics in the office.

Everybody in the office is not stressed out like you. Learn from other colleagues who handle the situation successfully where you failed.

Never change the job if the reason for changing is everywhere.

Immediate Boss Harassment

Immediate boss harassment, one of the main reasons for job hops. People change their boss, company, but they do not quit working. They change their working environment but keep working.

This is a very critical issue to be addressed. Of course, there are few cases where immediate boss is harassed by sub-ordinates. Often, sub-ordinates are the victims.

This is mainly because of Ego. There is no way to stop the employees from moving to another company, when immediate boss and sub-ordinates get into friction.

In the management point of view, immediate boss is important. Of course, he is the one who gets the job done any way, but at the cost of losing quality human resources. He also increases the work load to human resource department by more interviews.

High human resource traffic is not good for the company. In long run there will be no stability. If you are a CEO or MD, please, think of the ‘pillars’ of your company. You cannot be where you are now, if they(pillars) were not consistent for long time. The more number of stable pillars, the more stronger and bigger the house will be. Your current pillars do not allow new pillars to rise up. The is the problem. If you like your company to be small, then you can be content with one or two pillars and need not mind about the rest of the employee force. Let them be crushed by their immediate superior(your pillar).

It is very rare to find good chemistry between immediate boss and sub-ordinate.

The reasons for friction between the superior and the sub-ordinate are Ego, workload or anything else. But, who is going to suffer? Ultimately, the company. Employee will move to another company, the boss too may get another employee. It is the company which is going to lose in the long run.

More leaders in the company will bring more productivity. More productivity leads to more business. Real leaders make leaders. The world’s ancient business model ‘religion’ is a concept of ‘making leader’. Leader has to create new leaders. Religions are alive successfully for centuries and centuries are following the ‘making leader’ strategy. This is applicable to companies too. A company needs to generate new leaders to progress consistently.

Immediate boss maintains himself as leader beyond competition. He does all gimmicks to keep his position intact and away from competition. He neglects to identify and nurture new leaders, which is very badly needed for the progress and firmness of the company.

I can not support either sub ordinate or immediate boss. I played both roles. I was harassed by my boss. Later, I moved to another company. There I was promoted to Lead few programmers, whom, I harassed in turn. I psychologically forced even talented programmers to quit. What I needed was obedience and surrender from my sub-ordinates. They had to keep my EGO satisfied. Later, I changed my attitude towards my sub ordinates. I became most lovable mentor of them..

Every individual has to change. Company has to implement strict policy towards human resource traffic stimulated by immediate boss harassment.

You do not continue if you are a sub-ordinate harassed by your immediate boss. The company is not going to listen to your grievances. It needs to get the job done anyway. Your immediate boss is vested with such power to get the job done. Depending upon your financial situation, change the company, or take leave often. Never waste your time and energy to bear or fight with your boss.

If you do not find a good chemistry, please change. This is applicable to both employee and immediate boss, because, both are not going to loose. It is the company which is going loose ultimately.

Immediate boss is also an employee. He too jumps to another company if he gets friction with his superior.

Reasons for doing office politics

Fear, Ego, Jealous is the main reason for people involved in office politics. If people are free from fear, ego, and jealous then there will be no politics in office. Among three fear and jealous are important. Fear is the reason in most cases.

Nowadays I am not involving in politics. How many groups are there, all think they are good and others are bad. I did think my stand was correct, other’s were wrong. Everyone one and every group thinks they are correct.

Sometimes Fear and Ego are good if applied positively.

People on top of everybody will be happy if all their sub-ordinates, colleagues are inferior to them in all the aspects. If anyone having skills equal or better than them then there will be politics to suppress the skills. Here is the reason for politics is fear. Fear of loosing the position. Plus jealous too.

In many cases, if you convey as I am not a threat to you either directly or indirectly then there will be no politics or harassment.

Afraid of losing the importance, power, money, respect will force to do politics. Jealous of people, who is not having sufficient skills to meet out their designation will do counter politics.

Politics is well embroiled, you get cold war with some of the colleagues. You try to put down your detractors and vice versa.

Imagine that if you are not working in your current company. Will you have cold war with your colleagues? Probably your answer will be No. You will not have politics. This is wrong. You will be having cold war and politics with colleagues of the other company you are working.

Company may change, people working around you may change, but politics are everywhere. You cannot escape from office politics, but you can ignore it. Just ignore it and concentrate in your work.

Learn to do politics or ignore politics. If you do not have fear, you will be less affected by politics. Let people kill their fear, ego, jealous to create cordial working environment.

If you kill you fear instead of satisfying it, you will be a different person from how you are now.

Every company is same and every colleague is same. It is you have to change. Do not except the company to create a fear free, politics free working environment. It is not the company which creates politics, it is you (employees) do politics to satisfy your fear and jealous.

Awareness about God consciousness and understanding the in-secure and perishable nature of the life can help you to get rid off fear and race condition.

Surrender to your Immediate Boss to avoid Office Politics

There is a strategy to escape from ‘office politics’. No loss, no tension. You are safe and secure forever. Surrender to your immediate boss.

Having good rapport with your immediate boss is the easiest way to get your niche in office politics.

Never try to voluntarily get close to the boss of your immediate boss. It may provacate irritation and fear to your immediate boss. Soon he will execute harassment. If he allows you to create rapport with his boss, you are free to establish relationship with his boss.

There may be competitors to your immediate boss. Never never never get close to those people. They may have equal designation with your boss or having race with your immediate boss. Each one is trying to put down another. Avoid getting into cross fire. Never get close to ‘enemy’ of your immediate boss. This is worst mistake.

Show your ‘Sub-Ordination’ explicitly in your attitude and body language. Let others understand as you are in side of your boss because of his designation. So none will disturb you.

Remember, no other person can harm you like your immediate boss. No other person can help you like your immediate boss. He is the one who can either remove or give you peace in your work place.

At the same time be detached. Keep distance from your boss. You should be able to say ‘No’ when you have to say ‘no’. Otherwise, your ego will get wounded.

When your ego get wounded by your boss, you start to hate him. You will develop negative feelings. Soon, your negative feelings will be reflected in your speech and actions. Your relationship with your boss will get friction depending upon the maturity level of your boss.

Good immediate boss never put down the ego of their subordinates. They must have realized that to be successful they need the support of their subordinates as a team. He has to understand everyone’s need and what satisfy them. Some seek money, some seek respect, some seek comfort. Successful boss provides what every subordinate is expecting. Even they do not express it, he has to find and provide.

Be detached from your Boss. You may be promoted or changed. Your immediate supervisor will be changed. Change your ‘sub-ordination’ to your new immediate boss. Don’t repel your new boss. Show your subordination to the designation, but not for the human being who is holding it.

The thumb rule is establish good relationship with your immediate boss. You will have peace.

Reasons for Job Stress

Working hard or working long are not the reasons for stress especially job stress. Stress is a psychological response than physical. Food habit also plays role in stress.

Everything is mindset. You are working with a lady, beautiful lady. You are attracted by her and she too attracted towards you. Spending time with her – speaking, seeing, and everything is a great pleasure to you. You don’t feel for working long now. You like to work long. If the office is closed sharply by 6pm, you will feel it is too early to close.

You will not have job stress now. Job is a pleasure now. You love to be in the office rather than spending time outside. You work long without minding working long. You mind only the beauty where you get hooked.

Soon either you or the lady may be fired or transfered from the office due to office politics. Anyway, there is no job stress till you spend time with the woman.

You are sound financially. You have family support. You are well off. Job is not a mandatory in your life. Job will not be pressure to you. You will not have Job Stress. Job is one more activity in your life.

If your job is what you like to do, you will not have stress even you work for 24hrs a day.

You will not have job stress if you are able to lead your life without a need to work.

You will not have job stress if you are able to say ‘NO’ when you like to say no.

If you are confident and aware that loosing the current job is not going to affect your life anyway, you will not have job stress.

Job will not be a pressure to you when you are able to unload ‘Job Conscious’ from your mind. Fill your mind with what is interesting to you. What to fill your mind is up to you. Fill good things. Best is to fill by God’s wisdom.

People who meet one or more features discussed above are successful in both personal and career life. They do not have job stress. They have high productivity. Professional management adorns and absorbs such people.

Fire is hot. Anyone touches the fire will feel hot. This is common to all. Fire will not respond differently depending upon individuals. You, me, and everybody feels the same when we touch fire. If job gives stress, everybody working in your office should have stress, but only few are stressed out. All the people working are not getting stress. You can see in your office that many/few are enjoying their job, no stress, no tension.

Job Stress is subjective. It depends upon how you interpretate the concept ‘JOB’. Changing the bosses, companies on behalf of job stress will not give any result. It is your mind-set and attitude create stress. Wherever you go, you will have the same unless you change. It is you have to change.

Ignore the Office Politics to Reduce Job Stress

Office politics and work stress are closely related. Ignore the office politics to reduce stress. It is not the workload alone which is the reason for stress. It is our mindset and smouldering negative emotions, which create stress.

Your stress level mounts when your mind is obsessed and got feverish with negative thoughts or negative emotions. Work load is not an issue if you are happy and you have sense of well being.

You will have detractors if you are skillful and talented. You will have competitors, you will earn jealous of others. The existing employees or senior by date of joining have fear or jealous at you. You will have tough time if you are smarter than your immediate boss or superior. You will be insulted directly or indirectly. What they want is to get you out of the company and let them be on top always.

Your relationship stress mounts if you react to the above scenario negatively.

IGNORING ALL THESE OFFICE POLITICS IS THE BEST WAY TO AVOID THEM AND KEEP SUCCEEDING IN YOUR CAREER.

My friend is a programmer. He is well talented with high productivity. He was a quickly promoted to higher levels. The programmers working in the company who are senior to him by date of joining get jealous at him. They represent the management. They insulted him directly or indirectly. They always teased him, put him down many times.

Those who are close to management or acting as immediate boss or superior expect others to be meek to them in all the aspects. Those who are better than them will be tossed like anything.

My friend who had got friction with such people. He started to develop angry feelings, and negative emotions. He did not fight with them explicitly. He kept ‘bottle necking’ his angriness and negative feelings. Even after office hours, he was thinking about them. He was always having the angry feelings and frustrations. His head was overloaded with angry thoughts. He was obsessed or got feverish with his detractors thoughts.

He did not think about his girl friend, his parents, God, brothers and sisters, and friends. But, kept thinking about his competitors.

His productivity in the work got reduced slowly. He was not able to concentrate in his work. His productivity reduced due to wasting his mental strength by having a non-stop ego friction. His workload was also increased. All led him to severe stress and depression problems.

He met me and discussed his problem. He said that he was not able to concentrate in his work. He had some health problems. He suddenly started speaking about his office detractors. He was about to quit the company due to these problems.

I understood his real problem. I explained the real reason for his mental tiredness and lack of concentration. I suggested him to stop thinking about his office detractors. I told him that he would get back his mental strength if he ignores their ill treatment, if he forgives them.

Company pays him, he does not need to bother about others. I told him few tips for how to ignore his detractors.

Office politics is everywhere. Learn to ignore it. Just concentrate on your work. As long as, company is paying you and the workload is bearable ignore other things.

My friend realized the his problem. It is not the work load or his immediate boss which give him stress. It is the way how he responded, which actually give stress to him.

My friend develops pity at his detractors in the office. He is happy that he is skilled enough to earn jealous of other people. He thinks about what he likes and who like him. His angriness disappears. He regains his form and productivity. He is rising to further higher level in his career.

Slowly and steadily, his detractors skip him. They will find another rising star for screwing. My friend is happy and healthy both mentally and physically.

Job change due to Consultancy

Job changing is also happening due to consultancy screwing. Highly profiting business is head hunting.

When you do not have an intention to change or you like to continue in the current company, you will receive consultancy calls like anything. If you are skilled and potential candidate and you are in booming and growing industry, then you may receive 3 to 5 consultancy calls per day. If your resume is short listed by the client of the consultancy then you are hot.

A female with a charming voice or a male with a highly professional and cordial voice will contact over your mobile phone. They will tell that their Prestigious client has a vacancy which best suit your profile. Prestigious client will pay more than what is your CTC (Cost to Company) and etc. If you listen their pitching and get oscillated slightly, you will be tossed like anything.

When you attend the interview with their prestigious client, you will find which may be smaller than your current company.

If you are in India and in software industry, you will be told that an American or Canadian or Australian or any foreign client is waiting for you to conduct the interview. H/She liked your resume very much. Moreover H/She will be catching the flight by today or tomorrow evening. So you suppose to attend the interview as early as possible, otherwise you will miss a Golden Opportunity.

If you attend the interview in hurry burry (get permission from current office by telling a lie), you will be received by a typical Indian, who is with full of ego and high handed behavior as Interviewer. He will have fleeting glance over your resume. Then he will ask the traditional question, Tell about yourself. Though your resume has important things about you, you have to answer this question.

I do not join the company, who asked the traditional question, which is not any way helpful if you are a technical person. Within a week, the prestigious client of your consultancy will contact you directly. The consultancy will be skipped.

One time, a consultancy call was pitching about a CMM level company. I asked is it possible to get 100% hike from my current CTC. Consultancy said it will discuss with the company. Then they contacted me again and said that salary was not an issue. When I attend the interview that CMM level company, said my current CTC is beyond their budget.

CMM Level and big MNCs are numerous like petty shop or tea shops nowadays.

If you are in dilemma when replying to consultancy in the first call, there are chances you may change the job without your interest.

Changing the company for 10 to 30 percent hike is not good in case you are already settle down in your current company.

Their next strategy is making you attend the interview is, make yourself committed. They snatch the word from your mouth and convey that they have informed and confirmed to their client. So if you fail to attend interview you may have guilty feeling. So you will attend the interview to keep your word.

Consultancy is also one of the reasons for salary hike. They always tell you that you will get more than current CTC. It is very rare you move to another company without change in pay.

Quick job hopping is not good for both you and your employers. If you everything going well, stay in a company for minimum one year and maximum 2 to 3 years. But do not continue for more than 3 years in the same company. This is not good for both you and your employer.

Do not be scapegoat for consultancy enticement. Unless you personally decide to move to another company never listen consultancy pitching. Ignore at the first call.

Consultancy is charging you it is not because you are skilled and qualified. It is because your industry is good. There may be a booming or great demand. It is seller’s market – Employee’s market.

If you industry is not good then you have to chase consultancy. I remember that few years back, I charged consultancies; even I paid to register with them. They will conduct a mock interview too. That time was buyer’s market – employer’s market. Now things changed, main reason is industry is good and growing. Soon you may be paid to attend interviews.

You dodge consultancy or consultancy dodge you, nothing depends on you or consultancy. It is the market decides everything. Your experience, skill, and everything will be counted if your industry is good.
